Secret Garden

I never thought of myself as much of a yellow person, but after the second yellow color this challenge, I'm really liking it.

I know this color is a bit deeper than the swatch, but well...you all know my closet...it's still miffed about Pueblo, I'm just lucky I didn't end up with some rubber ducky pasties and a pair of yellow wellies!!

Instead I found this lovely summery romper that just begged to go to our secret garden and lounge in the sun amongst the flowers and the fairies...smart romper!

Glamour Amidst the Darkness

Atop the dark spires of the city she walks in glamour, her bold gown a beacon, defiant yet beautiful, she is...the glamour amidst the darkness.

I've often wanted to do a more editorial look, something that more approaches art than fashion.  It's a style that is completely out of the norm for me, but I've always admired the bold quality of it.  I'm not quite sure I hit that mark, but I do like the juxtaposition of the bold pink lacy gown entwined with the dark shadows and dirty spires high above the city...what do you think?

The Heat is On

I had the idea for this picture as soon as I decided what to wear for Week 19.  See, once again my closet had decided to mutiny on me.  Personally I think it was just too damn hot.  I live in the south and it seems that we skipped right over spring and fan pell mell into summer.  When I asked my closet for something in Pueblo, a color I really really am not fond of btw...its so.....so.....brown :(  Well all my poor closet tossed at me was a lacy bra and panty set and some seamed thigh highs.  Now you, my faithful followers know...if I can make a sheet work...I can certainly make a gorgeous lingerie set work.

I had just gotten the new grotto from Barnesworth Anubis at Collabor8 and that combined with the vintage feel of the lingerie and the gorgeous new hair from Exile for The Dressing Room and I had an idea, a story to tell, ...of a mysterious woman, alone on her balustrade, enjoying the dying rays of the sun, waiting for the cool air and end to the oppressing heat.  Unbeknownst to her, a camera clicks away, capturing her moment of solitude.  Who is the photographer?...the paparazzi?, the police?, a private eye?, a secret admirer? and who is the woman?  A fading starlet?, a mobster's moxie?, the mistress?, the woman you sit next to on the subway every day?

The picture is meant to spark a story, she is who you want her to be, the photographer is whoever you want him to be, the photo is merely the starting point,...who will you be today?

Aeva and the Art of Retrology

I had a lot of fun putting this outfit together and a bit of help from a couple of friends who offered suggestions as the look was coming together...thank you, you know who you are!

This weeks look for me was all about going retro and finding things from my inventory that have stood the test of time.  See the dress I'm wearing this week...guess how old it is....go head...I'll wait.....
2011?..nopes...2009?...nopes...it's from...2007!  In fact, just about half of my outfit is from 2009 or earlier.

Some might say there are very few things from SL in 2007 worth saving and for the most part you'd be right, but not this dress...it's a truly well made dress from a well known designer.  Heck, a trip thru the marketplace will show it to be better made than some things that were made within the past year.

And therein lies my modus operandi when shopping.  I always look for and buy well made pieces, pieces that I can wear again and again...and in the case of this dress....5 years later.  Sure, little of my inventory remains from my first year in SL, some of it was truly horrid, but there were gems to be found...even back then!  So always shop smart my fellow fashionistas!

Venus Reborn

Aeva: Well, you have a point there...I at least didn't hate you before this week...

Now you all know my affinity for the color pink and all it's various shades and hues.  Well you can now take Seashell peach off the list.  Holy frijole, what a hard color!  I dug thru the darkest scariest corners of my closet and all I could find was a sheet...one lone swath of fabric, hidden in the recesses of my rather large and overflowing closet, that before today, I would have proudly proclaimed that I could find any color that Luna threw at us in there.  Well, technically I still did...I mean, sure I'm more clutching it to my body than actually "wearing" it, but, I'm wearing the color....hey...a sheet counts!  and see...I did a gorgeous artistic and lovely shot to enhance the seashell peachiness of the sheet... isn't it pretty?...you won't even notice I'm barely "wearing" the color...*bats eyes innocently*

The Amazing Aquamarine!

I had the idea to do something a little different this week.  The color aquamarine is definitely one that was wowsa bright!, but I knew I had it in my inventory, lol.

I have always loved the old time Burlesque & Vaudeville era photos and lucky for me I had one in this week's color.  We won't mention I also have a few other colors too...*coughs*...I did say I like the theme after all.

This look was very easy to bring together at the outfit from Phoenix Rising has everything you need.  All I had to do was add a dashing top hat, some pretty jewels and a pair of classic black pumps and voila...abracadabra, The Amazing Aquamarine is here to perform for you.  Please remember to tip your waitstaff and try the veal...I'll be here all week!
